Only Three Weeks Left of the First Semester!
Ah yes, another week has come to an end. Only another three left of school, I can't believe it. Of all the terms I have had in university this one has gone by the fastest by far. I think it's the amount of hanging out with friends and social events outside of school that I've done. I mean, man it's gone by fast. Sometimes I wish I could just get the time to stop because I don't feel like I have enough time to do anything, it's insane, or I do but not enough to balance the fun with the work. Anyways, this past week definetely had it's ups and downs.
The Omega this week was solid, and I don't think I've ever contributed so much to one issue. I had Neal impressed with my student of the week, idea for a cover photo (women's soccer- great picture by Mike), and basketball photos, stories and soccer story. At school, I finished my final digital digest, and finally got the loan thing figured out.....well sort of. I know how much I'm getting and when I'm getting it. I'm getting some money the last week of this month, and although it may come after the date that tuition must be paid, it'll be some money for Christmas shopping and some spending money since it's looking more and more like I may be spending my month off school in PG. Which wouldn't be all bad. I mean, since I first moved down to Kamloops I haven't spent longer than about 10 days there so a full month would be nice, although I have no clue at this point what I'll be spending New Year's doing.
I MISSED OUT ON COLLEGE NIGHT AT HEROES, BUT NOT THE MARTINI MADNESS
Walking up sick on Thursday morning wasn't my plan, and I ended up spending the rest of the day sitting around. I had the flu for the whole day pretty much, which sucked, so I had to miss out on a night at Heroes, however I wasn't going to miss out on the Martini's at Meghan and Melissa's place. But prior to that, I went to Heroes for Rock Trivia.
Me: Who sung that, come on guys. Rockin' the Suburbs.......who sings that?
Chris (after much hesitation): It's a solo group. Ben Folds Five!
Yes, it was in fact Ben Folds Five, and I knew the year was 2001. So we got the triple score on our way to winning the Rock Trivia. I wasn't a huge fan of the team My Cousin Strawberry! I mean come on, what is that? But we won, and missed the year on a couple songs by just one. Damn Fire Escape from 1998, I could have sworn it was '97. Ernie was lying, he's lying. Damn him.....Anyways, we won so it's all good.
Bill and I got a ride to Meghan and Melissa's with Mike and yes I was one of the first people at the party, and would be one of the last. I was still recovering from the flu so therefore I had to look after myself. I'm glad I did because there was a few people, like Fred especially, who were in rough shape by the end of the night.
After I got there we dipped into some martini's and began playing a game 99, a game involving no skill really, mainly luck unless you throw down a certain card by mistake that some of us did. I ended up winning after Bill called 99 with nothing equalling 99. I had a pretty sweet hand, and did for most of the night, which caught me by surprise because when it comes to games with luck, I usually don't have any of it. I did have the best first move of the game though, using my 9 to start a reverse. That was pretty solid I have to say.
I recall a funny conversation I had with Fred out on the balcony while we were having a smoke. He starting ranting on about cougars and how they're the best girls to have because they'll hook up with anybody and this and that. Mike and Meghan were both having a few laughs from that conversation, but it was really Fred making everybody laugh all night. He was the life of the party on this night.
I met Danielle's boyfriend Joe this weekend which was pretty cool. He's a funny guy, and it was cool that they came to the party on Friday, which also included Carlos, Ernie, Aiden (his GF), Lisa, Delanie, Sarah, Chris, Orne, Lorne, Dale, and his GF, and some others. There was 20-25 people throughout the night. It was evident the party was dying down when the hosts became less social (Meghan was passing out, Melissa was on the phone with Nick), nobody was dancing, the drinks were out, and basically the people left were having one-on-one conversations, in other words, we weren't communicating or doing anything much as a group. But aren't you glad you could experience the party second hand from up in Peace River Nick?
Some funny moments I recall from the night:
- Fred talking about cougars, doing summersaults, dancing, falling over, knocking shelves over, slamming his drinks, and basically everything he did that night.
- Mike breaking his glass
- this Miles guy and the references he made about Sarah on the ride home
- my elbow knocking over Melissa's glass, and then hitting the light switch on the way back from refilling my drink, or something like that.
There were other funny moments, but I can't recall them all. Even I had my share of drinks.
